The Suite Royale is perfect for honeymooning couples or for a special occasion. With a large king size four-poster bed, the Suite Royale is approximately 75 sqm, has a separate lounge area, en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower, bath with bush view and twin basins. The Suite Royale has superb bush views from the large veranda with a 3×4 private swimming pool overlooking the watering hole.
Walking shoes, sun hat, sunglasses, sun block, cameras, binoculars, light clothing and swimming costumes in summer and in winter warm clothing and jackets.
Thula Thula is in a malaria free area
The Elephant Safari Lodge Marula Bar is in a thatched lapa which overlooks the waterhole; great game viewing and magnificent birdlife can be enjoyed with a refreshing beer, exotic cocktail or fine wine. Drinks at the bar will be charged to the guest’s room account for settlement on departure.
The swimming pool is adjacent to the Marula Bar and waiter service is available. The freshwater pool is approximately 2.5m x 4.5m with gradual steps in one corner. Sun-loungers, tables, chairs and 2 hammocks are located around the pool area.

Our superb menus offer a great selection of seafood, venison and the best vegetarian dishes. From our Seafood Bouillabaisse Creole to our famous Oxtail Bourguignon with garlic crushed potato, our Three Cheese and Pesto Feuilleté on tomato compote, the Venison Terrine with Marula jelly and our renowned Fillet of Impala served on sweet potato cake with a red wine and bacon sauce, the dining experience at Thula Thula is memorable.
Delightful desserts include our legendary Nougat Glacé with strawberry sauce, the Sublime Dark Chocolate with orange coulis and the unforgettable Cappuccino Ice Cream with hot chocolate sauce or the Chantilly Home Made Ice Cream with caramelised red berries.
On the lighter side, exotic fruit and vegetable salad with Biltong and sweet chilli dressing, chicken with lemon and honey served with curried fruit and vegetables, grilled calamari peri peri on olive polenta, chicken and mango on pumpkin cake with chocolate and chilli sauce… and the selection of sorbet granité made with fresh mango, pineapple, red berries, banana, kiwi and paw paw with granadilla pulp are just perfect to end a light meal…
Our Zulu dinner and venison braai (barbecue) around the fire in the Boma includes a vast selection of delicious traditional Zulu dishes cooked on the fire in cast iron pots, accompanied by slow roasted leg of venison served with red wine sauce and marinated whole fillet cooked on the barbecue with a choice of vegetables cooked in the fire, followed by our sublime dessert menu.
Game drives are conducted on the Thula Thula private game reserve by our professional rangers. You can see elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard, hippo, giraffe, crocodile, hyena, wildebeest, kudu, nyala, zebra and many more, including exceptional birdlife.

Children over 12 years old are welcome in the Elephant Safari Lodge.

There is an air conditioned lounge with TV-DSTV, and a game room for children. This lounge is also an art gallery for paintings from local artists who donated their artwork to the Thula Thula Rhino Fund
Dine under the stars in the boma for a traditional South African braai (barbecue) or a potjie (meat stew with vegetables cooked on the fire in a cast iron pot) where you will share stories of the day’s game viewing or the legends of the bush with your hosts, our dedicated rangers.
